The Edge J1s, therefore, are very similar to the Carve X1 boots of yore, but with a little facelift and a couple minor differences. The important info for you to know in this blurb is that these are very lightweight, one-buckle children's boots that are extremely user-friendly (meaning: comfortable, easy to put on and take off your child), and warm. These boots are not made to be skied on aggressively, so if your 5 year old is a superstar prodigy these may be too lightweight--but if your child is a beginner or intermediate (which honestly is about 99.99% of kids), you can't get too light of a boot, the lighter the better. And these are really light.
